PART of the Erskine Bridge will be closed for several nights over the coming weeks for cable inspections.

The southbound carriageway will be shut every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm until 6am, from Friday, August 16 until Saturday, September 14.

One lane will be closed on the northbound side of the bridge during these times.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

At times out with the weekend overnight closures, the cable inspections will proceed within a fully enclosed cable inspection cradle, and all traffic lanes will be open as normal.

Throughout the work, diversions will be in place for southbound traffic heading from the Helensburgh and Lomond area towards Glasgow.

Motorway traffic, including heavy goods vehicles, will be diverted along the A82 to Anniesland Cross and then the A739 (Crow Road), then to the A814 Clydeside Expressway towards the M8 at the Kingston Bridge.

Non-motorway traffic will be diverted along the same route until the Clydeside Expressway at Finnieston Street, then via Govan Road, Paisley Road West, Edmiston Drive, Shieldhall Road, Glasgow Road in Paisley, Glebe Street, Inchinnan Road, Greenock Road and Southbar Road to Erskine at the south end of the bridge.
