PARENTS in Helensburgh and Lomond who are struggling to make ends meet are being urged to make the most of an event in town this weekend.
The Helensburgh Uniform Bank (HUB) is holding its annual Back to School uniform sale at Helensburgh Parish Church on Saturday, August 10 from 10am until 12 noon.
It is an opportunity for families to pick up used but still good condition uniform items ahead of the start of the new school year.
Pupils will return to class in Helensburgh and Lomond, and across Argyll and Bute, on Wednesday, October 14.
Uniforms are normally available from schools including John Logie Baird, St Joseph's, Colgrain and Hermitage primaries as well as for Parklands School.
Uniform will also be available throughout the school year for those in need of replacement items.
As previously reported, Argyll and Bute Council is working with schools and community initiatives on the 'pre-loved' scheme, with the Helensburgh Uniform Bank being one of its partner organisations.

Councillor Jim Lynch, leader of Argyll and Bute Council, said: “We know that many families continue to face financial challenges and the cost of school uniform can often cause anxiety.
"By taking part in the pre-loved uniform scheme, you can help support your community, save money and protect the planet.
"We want to work together to make sure every child has access to a school uniform and we’re all doing our bit to become net-zero by 2045.”
