A Helensburgh dance group has generously donated £800 to two local charities in a bid to give back to the community.
The Helensburgh and District Highland Association have given £400 each to Gareloch Riding for the Disabled and children's charity CHAS.
Louise Worall, from Gareloch Riding for the Disabled, and Cara Bowden, from CHAS, were presented with cheques by the association's president, Neil MacLeod on Friday, June 30.
June's dance saw the Stuart McKeown duo play lively classic tunes throughout the evening.
Dancers enjoyed a programme of the Gay Gordons Two Step followed by the pleasant pace of the New Killarney Waltz and continuing through to the Petronella set dance, finishing with the Britannia Two Step.
After their break, the dance resumed with the Lomond Waltz moving on to the Duke of Perth set dance, expertly performed by eight participants. The ‘Square Tango completed the programme before the traditional finale of Auld Lang Syne.
The Helensburgh and District Highland Association has been holding dances in the area since the group were formed in 1907.
Dances are held on the last Friday of the month in the Osprey Suite of the Commodore Hotel, 112-117 West Clyde Street.
As well as encouraging people from the local area to come along to dance to some of the best Scottish dance bands in Scotland, one of the association’s aims is to donate profits to deserving causes.
Anne Thorn, secretary of the association, said: "Our monthly dances are held every month of the year except July and everyone from the local area and from further afield will be made most welcome.
"We also organise a Hogmanay Ceilidh in the Geilston Hall in Cardross. No dance experience is needed – just come along and give it a go."
