A YOUNG Highland dancer has won a handful of medals on the international stage on the other side of the Atlantic - despite being a relative beginner to the activity.
Seven-year-old Jane Barrie won five gold medals and a bronze in the beginner category at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina recently.
The Rhu Primary pupil only started Highland dancing about a year ago, and her parents and her school, Helensburgh's Margaret Rose School of Dance, say they're "delighted" with her success.
Jane will next be competing at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon in August.
Helensburgh, and the Margaret Rose School of Dance in particular, is already well known for the standard of its Highland dancers - and it looks like Jane could be the next in line to catch the eye in future.
