A MAN has been arrested for allegedly driving a vehicle at police in Helensburgh in an incident which officers are treating as attempted murder.
The incident started at around 8.15pm on Sunday night in the Churchill area of the town and led to a number of charges.
A 55-year-old man is alleged to have driven the vehicle towards an officer in Camperdown Court, forcing the officer to take evasive action.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a disturbance at a premises on Camperdown Court, Helensburgh, around 8.15pm on Sunday, July 21.
“During the incident a car was driven at an officer who took evasive action to avoid the vehicle and was uninjured.
“There were no reports of any other injuries.
“A 55-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday, July 22."
