Enthusiastic pipers from across the world descended in Helensburgh to compete in a popular event.
The third year of the BPCR Solo piping competition, which saw more than 30 entries from pipers in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Northern Ireland and across Scotland, was held at the Victoria Halls on Sunday, July 14.
The event provides an opportunity for pipers of all ages, with the youngest piper aged seven, to compete in the area of Argyll, following the cancellation of the Bicentenary Pipe Band Championships in Helensburgh and the Rosneath Peninsula Highland Games.
A new juvenile section was added this year which included competitors from Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band (HCCPB) and a new trophy for the senior piobaireachd winner was received from James Auld Funeral Directors in the town.
The prize winners were as follows.
Open Chanter
1 Eilidh Raeside (Dumbarton), 2 Rowan Garden (Cove).
Winner of the Rosneath Trophy, confined to juvenile HCCPB members: Rowan Garden.
Open Juvenile March
1 Peter McKay (Johnstone), 2 Morla Bruce (Alexandria), 3 Arran McKenzie (Dumbarton).
Open Juvenile S/R
1 Morla Bruce (Alexandria), 2 Peter Mackay (Johnstone), 3 Ethan Campbell Black (Kilbarchan).
Winner of HCCPB Shield, confined to juvenile HCCPB band members: Callum Mundie, Tarbet.
Adult Open Piobaireachd
1 Angus Macphee (Inverness), 2 John Macdonald (Aberdeen), 3 Campbell Wilson (Glasgow), 4 Calum Wynd (Dunblane).
Adult Open March

"It has become a very popular event in the main solo piping week, which includes the prestigious solo piping competitions at Inveraray, South Uist and Tobermory Highland Games among others."
