Residents of a Helensburgh retirement housing complex have raised hundreds of pounds to help the country's armed services veterans.
A D-Day 80th anniversary celebration at Waverley Court in the town raised £430 for the Erskine veterans' charity.
The charity was founded back in 1916 with the aim of helping men and women who had been injured in active service, something it continues to do to this day.
Helensburgh resident Alison Sturgeon, community fundraiser with the Erskine charity, said: “I was delighted to be surprised with a lovely email advising that Waverley Court had raised £430 for Erskine at a recent D-Day celebration and from their knitting group.”
The event, organised by Waverley Court manager Liz Saunders BEM, Maureen Pickett and Gordon White, saw residents come together with a wartime themed lunch where roughly 30 residents attended.
Music and dancing were provided by Ian Logan and Bill Butler whilst food was served by Diane White and Jeanette McCoshan.
Guests included Dr Gill Aitkenhead MBE, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for the County of Dunbartonshire.
Alison added: “A great time was had by all, and it stirred up a lot of memories of the old days.
"A memory corner displayed family photos, medals, and wartime keepsakes for everyone to enjoy.”
A spokesperson for Erskine added: "We rely on the generosity of our supporters to maintain our commitment to care for Scotland’s Veterans – without donations we simply cannot continue this work.”
