PLANS have been revealed for five glamping pods to be sited on the Rosneath Peninsula.

The proposal by a Mr and Mrs C Cant relates to a currently unoccupied field site at Achnashellach on Shore Road at Peaton.

A decision is expected from Argyll and Bute Council planning officers by late August, and comments can now be submitted by the public.

A statement by planning agents HMA Architects said: “The site is currently an unoccupied field located on to the north of Achnashellach.

“It is entirely covered in rough grass with no planting. There are stunning views to the west across Loch Long and to the rear of the field, is an area of ancient woodland.

“The site would be operational throughout the year. The pods will be self-catering accommodation with an area of decking for each unit.

“The will sited to give view over the loch and with hornbeam hedges planted between the pods to provide privacy.

“Onsite parking will be provided to the rear of the site with drop of areas provided at back pod, with cars being able to turn within the site so the exit onto the main road in a forward gear.”

The statement added: “The new buildings will be situated well away from any existing buildings, they will face, more or less, southwest to maximise the natural daylight.

“The pods sit within a residential area with large gardens, mature planting and open space around the buildings. On a smaller scale, to suit the pods sizes, this pattern will be replicated.”
