An B-listed castle in Cove with seven bedrooms and its own bar has gone up for sale.
The historic Cove Castle, designed by architect James Sellars, is being marketed by Galbraith, with offers over £1.175million being sought.
The property was previously owned by James Hannay in 1883 who claimed to be the first person to artificially create the industrial diamond, however, this is still a debate had by current scientists.
The castle on Shore Road has been extensively upgraded for modern living with a new heating system, double glazing in most areas and a roof that can survive coastal Scottish weather.
Many of the home's traditional feature have been retained in the period style, which includes large spacious rooms with high ceilings, stained glass windows, and a grand main staircase with two secondary spiral staircases leading to the turret and level that would have been used by servants.
Sitting in an elevated position, it can be accessed from Shore Road and offers excellent views over the loch.
On the ground floor, there is the large kitchen with its traditional features and comes with a wide variety of fitted cupboards, appliances and an impressive wood burning stove.
There is also the living room with large windows giving plenty of natural light and the bar can be found next door.
Meanwhile, on the first floor there is a spacious drawing room with a solid wood burning stove and a large dining room which overlooks the front lawn and Loch Long.
On the second and third floors are the bedrooms and bathrooms which are accessed by the main staircase. The main bedroom has double French doors leading into a dressing room.
.
The bathroom can be found on the third floor where there is a traditional high level toilet and a lovely freestanding bath.
The garden surrounds the property on all sides and stretches to around seven acres, including the foreshore across the width of the gardens. A mix of mature woodland, laid to lawn, hidden passages and a cave surround Cove Castle, offering an enchanted garden to explore.
The estate agents have also revealed that the contents in the castle, including many arts and crafts antiques, may be available by separate negotiation.
