POLICE forces are teaming up to help the night-time economy in Helensburgh during European football championships.
The Royal Navy Police (RNP) and Police Scotland have been out in the town visiting pubs and speaking to licensees and door staff for Euros 2024.
Officers said the high-visibility presence was to prevent anti-social behaviour and violence. And they said the work would ensure the community and local businesses benefited from the celebrations.
Inspector Bart Simonis, from Police Scotland in Helensburgh, said: "It’s great that we have a close working relationship with our colleagues in the RNP.
"Their presence within our community provides a visible deterrent for anti-social behaviour and violence and helps us to maximise a policing presence within the town.
"The atmosphere in Germany looks fantastic and it's great to see local businesses benefiting from the tournament.
"Alcohol is often the catalyst for anti-social behaviour and violence, so our increased presence is preventative to get in early and to ensure that any anti-social behaviour is being policed proportionately so as to avoid escalation."
