A TEENAGER has confessed to throwing knives, assaulted staff and hurled transgender abuse at another youngster at a children’s home.

Helensburgh resident Aiden Wilson pleaded guilty to  charges of threatening behaviour, assault, and culpable and reckless conduct following incidents in April, July, August and September last year.

The incidents happened at the Woodside children's home in Coylton, South Ayrshire, but the 18-year-old's solicitor told a court hearing that his client had since moved from Ayrshire to Grant Street in Helensburgh.

Wilson pleaded guilty to shouting and swearing at a staff member on April 17, 2023 and grabbing the same man by the hair two days later.

He also admitted repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks at a male member of staff on July 28, a charge aggravated by racial prejudice.

Wilson also pleaded guilty to throwing knives at a female member of staff at the same facility on August 12, and shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks to a 15-year-old on September 5.

The Crown’s complaint states that this charge was aggravated because it involved prejudice towards transgender identity.

The prosecution accepted pleas of not guilty to four other charges.

Wilson’s solicitor told a hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court that his client was still the subject of a previous community payback order imposed for a separate offence.

Sheriff Maria Kicinski deferred sentencing for criminal justice social work reports and continued Wilson’s bail; he will return to court for sentencing at a later date.
