RHU Amateurs are offering supporters the chance to buy a plaque in memory of a loved one to be placed on a new ‘memorial wall’ at the club’s home ground.
The plaques will be placed on a special wall taking pride of place at the club’s Ardenconnel Park home, facing directly on to the pitch.
Each plaque costs £20 and will be engraved with three lines of text: ‘In Memory of’, then a loved one’s name, and a small message beneath.
A club spokesperson said: “We see Ardenconnel as the perfect place to come along and think, and reflect on anyone close to you that has had an affiliation with the team, or the village, and to remember all the good times spent together.”
The first order has already been placed, but more orders are planned for the future. Anyone interested in remembering a loved one in this way can find out more details by contacting Gordon Brodie on 07711 120323 or by sending a message to the ‘Rhu Amateurfc’ page on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the club’s Caledonian League squad have confirmed details of their pre-season friendly fixtures as they gear up for the campaign ahead.
Those fixtures begin on July 13 at home to Vale of Leven Amateurs, with further games planned on July 20 against Glasgow Wellington (a), July 22 against Vale of Leven Juniors (a), July 27 against Dumbarton Accies (h), and August 3 against Oban Saints (a).
All kick-off times are still to be confirmed. Pre-season training for the squad starts on Thursday, July 4. For more updates keep a close eye on the club’s Facebook page.
