Helensburgh's busiest campaigners and activists have confirmed their leadership team for the coming year.

Helensburgh Community Council (HCC) held their annual general meeting and elected a new convener following the death of long-time stalwart Norman Muir last year.

Peter Brown has been interim convener of the group since then, but was formally nominated at the May 30 meeting to take on the role.

He was elected by acclamation as the only candidate, and paid tribute to Mr Muir in his comments and annual report presented at the meeting.

"Norman is still greatly missed," Mr Brown said.

"He was our dedicated leader for more than seven years and is greatly missed by the community council and the whole Helensburgh community.

"He was a true champion of the community, and he continues to influence much of our current work.

"Tonight, we will elect a new convener to replace Norman. He will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution to the Helensburgh community and his legacy will live on in our activities."
