A WOMAN who was violently attacked at the weekend has been released from hospital.

The 25-year-old was assaulted by a man in East Princes Street, Helensburgh, in the early hours of Sunday, May 26.

After the attack near the junction with Sinclair Street at 12.45am, police and ambulance attended and the woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Her condition was described as "serious".

Inspector Bart Simonis was asked at Helensburgh Community Council's meeting on May 30 for any update on the attack.

He said: "We have a positive line of enquiry. The woman is out of hospital and we are supporting her and we are continuing with our investigation."

Insp Simonis thanked the community for their response to their appeal for information and that let them recover vital CCTV to help with the enquiry.

The suspect was described as white, aged in his late 30s, about 6ft tall, and with a heavy build.

He was bald or had a shaved head. And he was wearing a short-sleeved, dark-coloured t-shirt and dark coloured trainers with white trim.

The suspect was in the company of another man and a woman.

Earlier this week, Detective Constable Nic Neeson said: “Our investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the man responsible.

“This is a busy area and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this serious assault or who has any information regarding this incident to come forward as soon as possible.

“I would also ask any drivers with dash-cam or anyone with personal footage to please review it and get in touch if it holds anything that may be relevant to this ongoing investigation.”
