A MANHUNT las been launched after a woman was left in a serious condition after being assaulted in Helensburgh town centre.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was assaulted by a man on East Princes Street, near its junction with Sinclair Street, at around 12.45am on Sunday, May 26.

Police and ambulance attended and she was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where hospital staff describe her condition as serious.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 30s, around six feet tall, and of heavy build with a bald or shaved head.

"He was wearing a short-sleeved, dark-coloured T-shirt and dark-coloured trainers with a white trim. He was in the company of another man and a woman.

Detective Constable Nic Neeson said: “Our investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the man responsible.

“This is a busy area and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this serious assault or who has any information regarding this incident to come forward as soon as possible.

“I would also ask any drivers with dash-cam or anyone with personal footage to please review it and get in touch if it holds anything that may be relevant to this ongoing investigation.”
