DRIVERS on the A82 will face two disruptions and long diversions due to major work being carried out on the trunk road.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking overnight resurfacing work northbound and southbound on the A82 near Bowling in two phases between Sunday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 25.
The road will be closed while work is carried out each night between 10pm and 6am, with additional lane closures on the southbound carriageway from 8pm each night, and signed diversions will be put in place.
Drivers heading from Glasgow, Clydebank and the Erskine Bridge towards Dumbarton, Helensburgh and Loch Lomond will face a major diversion while the resurfacing work is taking place.
The first phase of the resurfacing works of the northbound A82 will take place between the A814 Bowling and Old Kilpatrick junction and Dunglass roundabout from Sunday, June 2 until Saturday, June 8.
Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday, June 9.
The second phase of the works will take place on the A82 southbound between the A898 off slip road and the A898 on slip road from Thursday, June 14 until Monday, June 24.
The diversion route will take drivers along the A810, the A809 and the A811 through Hardgate, Duntocher, Faifley, Baljaffray, Carbeth, Croftamie, Gartocharn and Balloch before eventually rejoining the A82 at Balloch or Dumbarton - a total distance of some 22 miles.
Access and exit to and from Dunglass Roundabout from Balloch and Bowling will be maintained throughout this work.
The resurfacing aims to improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for major maintenance work in the future.
Amey says that the work is weather dependent, and could be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not ideal.
