FIVE charities across Lomond and West Dunbartonshire received a donation from a group of dedicated volunteers.

Members of the Dumbarton committee of St John Scotland have been hard at work to provide CPR training, and support communities across the region to install defibrillators.

But, it didn't stop them from raising money and awareness for local charities across Helensburgh, Lomond and West Dunbartonshire.

The community have supported the organisation at their recent can collection which was held at various supermarkets in Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Balloch.

Earlier this month, the group held a cheque presentation at Helensburgh Parish Church which several local charities were invited to attend.

Representatives from Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team, the Loch Lomond Rescue boat, CHAS and the Acorn Centre attended to each receive a £1,000 cheque.

The chairman of the committee Graham Smith and vice-chairman Douglas Dow took an additional cheque for £1,000 to the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Clydebank following the presentation.

Graham said: "We are absolutely delighted to continue to support all of these very worthwhile local charities.

"We also want to thank the public for their continued support and donating at our can collection. Every penny went to great causes."
