THE final countdown is on to one of the most popular features of Helensburgh and Lomond's annual events calendar, taking place in town this weekend.

The Helensburgh Beer and Gin Festival will feature drinksfrom a wide variety of breweries and distilleries - as well as whisky and fizz for those wanting something different.

The event will run at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre in East Clyde Street from 6pm to 11pm on Friday, May 17, and from 1pm until 11pm on Saturday, May 18.

It's run by the Helensburgh Events and Reinvestment Trust (HEART) - formerly known as the Helensburgh Round Table - and all proceeds from the event, after costs, will go to local charitable causes.

The organisers say 59 different beers will be on offer including two lagers from Loch Lomond Brewery in Renton, best sellers from No Limits Brewing in Dumbarton, and beers from Stewart Brewing on the east coast.

Gins will include Botanist, Bute, Ellis, Purist, and Tobermory, while there will also be food from Bangin’ Pizza, Events Kitchen and more.

Live bands will be playing throughout the weekend too.

Tickets are priced at £15 for Friday and £20 for Saturday, while there's a weekend ticket for £35 too. The ticket price includes entry as well as two drink tokens.
