DRIVERS on the A82 will face a full week of disruption and long diversions due to major work being carried out on the trunk road.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking overnight resurfacing work on the A82 northbound between the Dunglass roundabout and Dumbarton from Thursday, May 16 until Thursday, May 23.
The road will be closed while work is carried out each night between 10pm and 6am and signed diversions will be put in place.
Drivers heading from Glasgow, Clydebank and the Erskine Bridge towards Dumbarton, Helensburgh and Loch Lomond will face a major diversion while the resurfacing work is taking place.
The diversion route will take drivers along the A810, the A809 and the A811 through Hardgate, Duntocher, Faifley, Baljaffray, Carbeth, Croftamie, Gartocharn and Balloch before eventually rejoining the A82 at the Stoneymollan roundabout - a total distance of some 22 miles.
Amey says the A82 will be open as normal between 6am and 10pm and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained while the work is carried out.
Traffic on the southbound carriageway heading towards the Erskine Bridge, Clydebank and Glasgow will not be affected.
The resurfacing aims to improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for major maintenance work in the future.
Amey says that the work is weather dependent, and could be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not ideal.
