A private Loch Lomond island “steeped in history” has been put up for sale.
Offers over £895,000 are being sought by estate agents Savills for Inchmoan Island, which is around a mile long and covers almost 113 acres.
Popular with campers and picnickers, the island is well known for its 350 metres of sandy beaches.
The wildlife on the island is vibrant and varied and includes Scots pine, pear, blueberry, birch, alder, bog myrtle, gorse, and rhododendrons.
Inchmoan also has a two storey, former stone hunting lodge cottage on the island's western peninsula but is currently in a state of ruin.
The name originates from Inchmoan’s use by the people of Luss as a peat fuel source for village fires.
There are no services connected to the island and it is not currently habitable, so a private boat will be needed to access the island.
Estate agents Savills said: “[Inchmoan is] arguably the most well-known island in the iconic Loch Lomond cluster.
“With beautiful stretches of white shingle beach, the longest of any of the Loch Lomond islands, on either side, on a sunny day there is always a perfect sheltered spot for a picnic.
“This sale represents a very special opportunity to acquire a private island, steeped in history, within one of Europe's most renowned and beautiful expanses of water.”
