WORKS created by members of the Scottish Women’s Institute in Helensburgh and Lomond and beyond will go on display in Helensburgh this weekend.
The Dunbartonshire SWI Federation’s annual show and exhibition takes place at the Victoria Halls on Saturday, May 4.
It will include baking, craftworks, horticulture, handicrafts and more, all created by members of the eight branches of the SWI – still popularly known as ‘the Rural’ – across the Dunbartonshire area.
Five of those branches are located in the Helensburgh area – Millig (Helensburgh), Cardross, Garelochhead, Cove and Kilcreggan, and Luss – while the federation also includes branches in Gartocharn, Baldernock, Craigton and Croftamie.
Each of the area’s SWI branches hold regular meetings throughout the year, with guest speakers shining a light on a wide variety of topics, while the Dunbartonshire Federation holds a range of annual events for all the branches, including a quiz, a ‘Ruralympics’ and more.
In addition to the competition entries, Saturday’s event will also feature crafts, a sales table, a tombola, baking, a raffle and a tearoom.
The show is open to the public from 1.30pm, with the prize-giving taking place at 3.30pm.
Admission to the show is £2 and teas cost £3.
