VOTERS in Helensburgh have two weeks left to return their postal ballot in a by-election to the town’s community council.
As previously reported in the Advertiser, three local residents – Louise McCormack-Fisher, Bill Purdon, and Simon Vella - are standing for election to fill two seats on HCC which have been left vacant following the death last year of convener Norman Muir and the decision of another community councillor to move away from the area.
Postal ballots are, or have been, sent out to all residents on the electoral roll in the town. Completed ballot papers must be sent to Argyll and Bute Council, Kilmory, Lochgilphead PA31 8RT, to arrive no later than 4pm on Thursday, May 2.
By-elections were also called for the community councils in Rhu and Shandon and in Cove and Kilcreggan, and in 29 other community council areas across Argyll and Bute.
However, in all apart from Helensburgh, the elections will be uncontested, as the number of candidates who put their names forward did not exceed the number of vacancies.
