A diversion on the A83 near the Rest and Be Thankful will stay in place until next week, officials have confirmed.
In response to wet conditions this week and following a safety review on Thursday, April 11, BEAR Scotland will be continue diverting traffic at the A83’s Rest and Be Thankful along the Old Military Road until at least Monday, April 15.
Significant movements on the hillside continued overnight following the very heavy rain on Wednesday, April 10.
The weather also caused boulders to have been brought to the surface - causing concern for the safety of road users travelling on the A83.
A decision will be made about returning traffic to the A83 trunk road on the morning of Monday, April 15 as the boulder risk will be dealt with and the movement of the hillside will be monitored over the weekend.
BEAR Scotland's north west representative, Ian Stewart, said: “While we monitor the situation closely, we've decided to use the Old Military Road as a proactive safety measure.
“We understand that this can be inconvenient and we apologise for any disruption, but safety remains the priority.
“Using the Old Military Road will ensure the route remains accessible for travellers, keeping Argyll very much open for business.”
The diversion was put in place after the road first closed on Wednesday, April 10 due to heavy rain.
