Family of a RNLI Helensburgh crew member travelled hundreds of miles to the town to give a generous donation in memory of a loved one.
Crew member Calum McKay’s cousin, Eleanor, travelled from England to present the crew with a cheque for £1,000 alongside her husband Charlie and their baby Margot.
The money was donated by friends and family in memory of Eleanor’s father, Ian MacDonald, who had showed appreciation for the RNLI during his life.
Ian’s wife, Alison, couldn’t make the trip, but she and Eleanor raised some of the money with a Burn’s night in London in Ian’s memory.
Local Operations Manager Howard Morrison said: “We were delighted to welcome Eleanor and her family to the lifeboat station.
“A big thank you to the family and friends for their very kind and generous donation to Helensburgh lifeboat in memory of Ian.
“We look forward to seeing them at the lifeboat station in the future.
“Donations, such as this, enable us to buy essential equipment and provide training for our crew to help them save lives at sea.”
