THE railway line between Helensburgh and Dumbarton was closed for several hours on Sunday due to damage to the overhead electric wires.
ScotRail announced at 8am on Sunday, March 31 that it had received reports of damage to the overhead electric wires in the Cardross area.
As a result, all train services were suspended between Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central.
The train operator said it only had “very limited” rail replacement transport in place, with a 16-seater minibus shuttling between Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central.
ScotRail announced at 11.20am on Sunday that Network Rail staff had completed repairs in the area that should allow trains to run again.
UPDATE: @NetworkRailSCOT staff have now completed repairs, which allows us to run trains in the area again. Thank you.

The first eastbound train to run as normal from Helensburgh after the disruption was the 11.25am service to Edinburgh Waverley.
Services were disrupted again later in the day after reports were received of trespassers in the vicinity of Dalreoch station, but trains were able to run as normal within 15 minutes of the initial report, shortly after 3pm.
