WITH winter very definitely turning to spring there's been no shortage of events in Helensburgh and Lomond so far this month.

In the past week alone, we have reported on a new Italian restaurant opening at a luxury Loch Lomond hotel, Argyll and Bute Council being set to scrap a 10 per cent council tax hike, and businesses in the local area being invited to enter the Scottish Thistle Awards.

Helensburgh Advertiser: A well-known community policeman who pounded the Burgh beat for the last 23 years was due to retire. Red letter day for community police officer Tom Speir arrived and he hung up his boots for the last time after a total of 30 years in the police force.
