Community groups in Helensburgh and Lomond have little more than a week left to apply for funding of up to £2,500 from Argyll and Bute Council.

The application window for the local authority's Supporting Communities Fund closes on Monday, March 18.

The council supported 47 groups last year which benefited more than 25,000 residents.

Project categories eligible for funding include fairer communities, resilient communities, greener and cleaner communities, and creative communities.

Councillor Alastair Redman, policy lead for economic growth and communities, said: "We know that there are hundreds of community groups and volunteers across Argyll and Bute making a huge difference to local communities.

"Many of the groups depend on external funding.

"Our Supporting Communities Fund has benefited so many groups in previous rounds and I would encourage you to get in touch and apply to the funding as it makes such a difference."

Past projects have covered diverse activities, from fitness and wellbeing initiatives to music, arts and crafts, youth projects, and efforts to tackle social isolation.

Among the Helensburgh and Lomond groups who received financial help from the fund in 2023 were Plastic Free Helensburgh, the Friends of Hermitage Park, the Garelochhead Station Trust, the Geilston Hall in Cardross, and the Princess Louise Hall group in Rosneath.

Other local groups to have received support in previous years include the Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Community First Responders, Grey Matters Active Ageing, the Helensburgh Tree Conservation Trust and the Cove and Kilcreggan Youth Cafe.
