A HELENSBURGH orchestra is inviting the area's music lovers to what it promises will be an “electrifying” concert later this month.
The Helensburgh Orchestral Society's next performance will be at the Victoria Halls on Saturday, March 23 at 7.30pm.
The varied programme will feature a performance of works by Sibelius, Saint-Saens and Edvard Grieg.
A spokesperson for the orchestra said: “One of the highlights will be when Irish cellist Elias Rooney plays the Cello Concerto by French composer Saint-Saëns.
“This will undoubtedly be a virtuosic performance by this highly esteemed soloist.
“The concerto is considered to be one of the top best cello concertos ever written.
"The society will also perform the Peer Gynt Suite by Norwegian composer Edvard Greig - including the most loved number ‘In The Hall of the Mountain King - and Symphony No.1 by Finnish giant Sibelius completes this electrifying programme.
"Our town’s orchestra is going from strength to strength and on the 23rd there will be 50 musicians giving a memorable performance."
Tickets (£12.50 for adults, £6 for students)are available from orchestra members and can also be bought at the Scandinavian Shop and Destination Helensburgh in Sinclair Street, while accompanied children under 12 and young cello players under the age of 16 go free.
