Helensburgh locals can watch an award-winning documentary film exploring Christianity and chat with one of the stars later this month.
On Sunday, February 25 at 4pm, ‘Against the Tide’ will be screening at the Tower Cinema in association with Bethesda Christian Fellowship.
The film features John Lennox - emeritus professor of mathematics at the University of Oxford - and actor Kevin Sorbo as they examine Christianity through a scientific and historical lens.
A spokesperson for the church said: “[John] has debated across the world with such well known atheist thinkers as Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.
“He has a relaxed, charming and easy to understand style of communication.
"Much of the filming is on location at some historic sites, which makes it interesting, engaging and compelling viewing.”
Free popcorn will be served to all attendees and following the screening, there will be light refreshments at the church on Colquhoun Street.
At the church, people can meet John via an online stream where they can chat about any questions or observations about the film.
'Against the Tide' won the 'Best of Festival Award 2021' from the Canadian Real to Reel Film Festival and the 'Best Presentation Award 2021' from the Christian Worldview Film Festival.
The tickets are free of charge and on a first come, first served basis and will only be issued to people who can confirm their attendance – due to the limited number of seats in the cinema.
To book a ticket, email bethesdajim@btinternet.com and provide your name and contact details or collect at the Bethesda Corner Cafe or during a church service.
