PEOPLE in Rhu are being invited to join members of the village's community council at their first beach clean of 2024 in Rhu.
Rhu and Shandon Community Council are asking volunteers to roll up their sleeves and help clear marine litter from the shore on Saturday, January 13 from 10am until 11.30am.
People are invited to volunteer their spare time to help keep the coastline clean for the community and wildlife.
All volunteers are asked to meet in Ferry Lane in Rhu with their own pair of gloves. Other equipment will be provided.
The village's last beach clean of 2023 saw volunteers pick up 85 kilograms of litter from the shore on November 18.

The litter collected includes glass and plastic bottles, general waste plastic wrapping, sweet wrappers, planks of wood, old shoes, a broken plastic storage container, two metre long steel piping, and plastic food containers.
The Rhu and Shandon Community Council beach cleans began in July 2023, and the council is encouraging more volunteers to join their efforts this year - warmly welcoming anyone who wants to help.
