FREE blankets, gloves, socks and hot water bottles are to be provided to people in Helensburgh struggling with high heating bills this winter.

Social care charity Carr Gomm will also supply flasks and torches to those in need to ensure they're ready in the event of any power cuts.

It's the second year that the charity has offered 'keep warm kits' to people in Scotland.

It received 200 requests for the essential supplies last winter.

Denise Murdoch, senior operations manager for Carr Gomm’s Argyll and Bute services, said: “We want to keep people comfortable throughout the winter months and so we greatly appreciate people’s support for this campaign.

“We can’t heat people’s homes, but we can keep the person warm.”

Carr Gomm staff will be delivering the kits directly to people’s homes across Argyll and Bute.

The charity wasestablished 25 years ago and aim to tackle isolation and loneliness through projects and activities in communities across Scotland.

Anyone who would like to request a kit for themselves or for another can get in touch with Carr Gomm at warmbox@carrgomm.org or by phoning 07789 396591.

To help the Keep Warm Kits reach more people, you can donate to the appeal on Carr Gomm’s website: www.carrgomm.org/keep-warm-appeal.
