The 1st Cardross Beaver Colony was learning about other countries by exchanging postcards and badges with the 26th Silver Jubilee District Beaver Colony in Hong Kong. The youngsters are pictured holding the Hong Kong national flag. Regulars at the Kilcreggan Hotel raised a glass to a local success story as the hostelry was named Dunbartonshire Pub of the Year by the local branch of CAMRA. Branch spokesperson John Kelly said the pub's owners, Carol and Ray Hamlin, had shown a willingness to provide the very best beer for their customers and, as usual when a pub sells good beer, to provide a top quality service in other regards. The CAMRA team also highlighted the appointment of two real ale experts, Richard Coates and Tony Belk (pictured above), as cellarmen to ensure the beer was looked after properly. (Image: Newsquest)
A festive record was broken in Cove when the RNLI held their coffee morning and Christmas card sale. Members of the community turned out to support the fund-raiser and helped make it a huge success. More than £1,200 was raised for the charity - the most ever raised at the annual event. The RNLI funds lifeboats and volunteer rescue teams, including the Helensburgh crew. A spokesman said: “It was a fantastic result. We are very pleased with the level of support that helped us raise this record sum.” (Image: Newsquest)

Hermitage Primary School added to the festive spirit aeround the town with their Christmas fair.
