Members of a Helensburgh sewing group were delighted to have raised almost £1,000 for a Parkinson’s charity at their latest display.
Helensburgh’s Sew Easy Quilting Group raised £900 for the Helensburgh and Dumbarton branch of Parkinson’s UK during their show at Helensburgh Parish Church.
Members exhibited and sold hand-made items, while home-made traybakes, tea, and coffee were on sale.
Group member Mick Stead said: “We don’t do the quilt show very often – it’s a lot of work and I think it must have been four or five years ago that we did it.
“It poured down all day and we were so surprised at the amount of money we made. We didn’t realise we were going to raise that much.”
The group meets every Monday at the Helensburgh Community Hub, with members paying £3 per session to cover hall costs.
Monday, December 11 will be the group’s last meeting of the year with plans to restart in January 2024.
New members are always welcome to come along to chat, sew, have a tea, and enjoy some biscuits.
