Local music lovers are invited to a Helensburgh choir’s upcoming concert which will pay tribute to their late musical director.
The Helensburgh Oratorio Choir’s concert will take place on Sunday, December 3 in the Helensburgh Parish Church with the performance starting at 7.30pm.
Performing Handel’s Messiah, the show marks the choir’s 60th anniversary and will be a tribute to their former musical director, Walter Blair, who passed away this February.
The choir’s chair, Alicia Tindal, said: “The choir have been rehearsing since August and we have professional opera soloists and members from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Scottish Opera forming the orchestra to join us.
“Walter was the choir’s musical director for 20 years and we are delighted to give a retiral collection to the Marie Curie charity.”
The 75 choir members come from across the Lomond area with people travelling from Balloch, Cardross, Roseneath, and Rhu to sing with the group.
Rehearsals are held in the Helensburgh Parish Church every Tuesday at 7.45pm.
Tickets for the upcoming performance cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for students and under 18s.
Tickets and more information are available from the choir’s website: www.helensburghoratorio.co.uk.
