Members of a Helensburgh church are saying a fond farewell to their well-loved as pastor he prepares to take on a new role.
After working at the Bethesda Christian Fellowship’s [BCF] for 16 years, pastor Gordon Weir will move on to Granton Baptist Church in Edinburgh as of Friday, December 1.
Gordon and his wife Fiona began working with the Bethesda Christian Fellowship in 2007 along with their daughters, Charity and Lois, and were popular in the community.
Church member Ken Newberry said: “Gordon and Fiona played a vital role in the church and the Helensburgh community.
“Gordon and Fiona's skills and initiative contributed to the development of the church and its growing involvement in the community.
“Their talents include pastoral care, preaching, leading Bible studies, guitar playing, and singing.
“Over the 16 years in Helensburgh, they developed good friendships with people in the church and beyond and were able to provide support and spiritual advice to many.
“All at BCF thank Gordon and Fiona for the good work they have done and wish them well as they prepare to move to Edinburgh.”
The church is currently in the process of identifying a new full-time pastoral elder to replace Gordon.
