People in Helensburgh are being warned of disruption to journeys by train this weekend.

National Rail has says buses will replace trains between Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1.

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work which will require a full closure of the line between Helensburgh and Dumbarton on both dates.

The replacement buses will cover Craigendoran, Cardross and Dalreoch.

Among those set to face disruption are local residents taking part in the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow this weekend - with only two trains arriving in the city centre in time for the start of the event.

The pick-up and drop-off point for the replacement buses will be on East Princes Street.

For passengers on the West Highland line, including Helensburgh Upper, Garelochhead, Arrochar & Tarbet and Ardlui stations, a replacement bus will operate between Glasgow Queen Street and Crianlarich, calling at all stations.
