Organisers of a newly launched art group at Cardross’ Geilston Garden are thrilled by the session’s “very positive” reception.
The garden’s ‘Art Workshop for Beginners in Watercolour Painting’ was held on Thursday, August 17 with organisers Friends of Geilston saying participants were “clearly keen” to return to future classes.
Painters took inspiration from the garden as they practiced a variety of new techniques taught by experienced local artist and tutor, Julia Gurney.
Alana Ingram, of the Friends, said: “Participation in the recent ‘Art Workshop for Beginners in Watercolour Painting’ was a real treat.
“The weather was bright and sunny, with fantastic light for painting.
“Artist and tutor extraordinaire, Julia Gurney, guided the group through many new skills and techniques and the garden provided plenty of inspiration.
“Feedback from the group was very positive and many purchased the materials which had been provided so are clearly keen to continue practicing their newly acquired skills - very encouraging for this new venture for Friends of Geilston.
“Thanks must go to those who helped with preparations and clearing away and to Allison Hillis who also organised refreshments, including the absolutely yummy chocolate and raspberry cake.
“Final thanks always to the gardening staff who keep the garden looking so wonderful.”
The garden has hosted art groups for years but the watercolour class for beginners is one of the latest to be added to the roster and is the first to be held this year.
