FILM fans in Helensburgh are being urged to “watch this space” as the team at the town's cinema work towards opening their newest screen.
SCREEN3, at the Tower Digital Arts Centre in Sinclair Street, was due to have its opening weekend across Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, but staff decided to postpone the event to a later - as-yet undecided - date to allow more time to finalise the programme.
The team have been meeting to discuss what films will be shown in the small 20-seater room and are looking to organise screenings of movies across a variety of genres including ‘date night’ movies, musicals, kids films and arthouse films.
Staff member Donna Hicks said: “There’s a bit more to it than we initially thought in terms of getting a programme together.
“We have a few private bookings in the calendar, but we haven’t got any films ready to be shown yet – but we will have very soon.
“We’ve got different ideas of what we’re thinking of showing in that cinema room.
“Date night classics, musicals, kids films, cosy matinee films - we want to show something for everybody.
“It’s coming soon, so watch this space.”
The room was officially completed on Friday, July 21 and will show reruns of classic movies from various genres as well as streams of National Theatre productions.
Consisting of sofas and armchairs with small tables each with their own tealight, the room aims to give cinemagoers an intimate and cosy viewing experience.
The small space will also be used for live performances and concerts and is currently available for private bookings.
