PEOPLE in Helensburgh will have a chance to get up close and personal with a fleet of classic vintage cars when they pay a visit to the town later this month.
The Helensburgh Vintage and Classic Car Run will see assemble at Kidston Park before setting off on a journey to Rosneath Castle Park.
Drivers will go along the promenade to the roundabout in front of Morrisons where they will then turn and travel via Rhu to Garelochhead along the road to Rosneath Castle Park where the route will end, and visitors can enjoy lunch between 12 noon and 1pm.
For the fourth year running, locals can have a rare chance to see cars dating from the 1920s to the 1960s.
The event takes place on Saturday, August 26, and will see cars assemble at Kidston Park from 10am before setting off towards Rosneath at 11am.
David Morgan from the event's organisers, the Scottish Western Thoroughbred Vehicle Club [SWTVC], said: “There are 100-year-old cars and vehicles that are even more recent - some of the cars dating into the 50s and 60s.
“It’s been very popular the last few years.
“We’ve had a good turnout and a lot of members of the public like to come up and ask about the cars.”
Cars will be parked along the Kidston Park entrance road where visitors can observe them and ask organisation members any questions they may have.
In previous years, the run has finished at Cove Burgh Hall, but due to the hall’s unavailability this time round, Rosneath Castle Park will function as this year’s end destination.
The club's 2023 events calendar so far has included visits to Strathblane, to the Drymen Agricultural Show, and to the steamship Sir Walter Scott at Loch Katrine.
