ARTISTS in Helensburgh are inviting the town's art lovers to come along to a special exhibition next month.
Members of Helensburgh Art Club are hosting their 70th annual exhibition in the Victoria Halls from Saturday, August 5 to Saturday, August 12.
The display will show members’ artwork and will be open between 10am and 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am and 4pm on Saturdays.
Club member and press officer Margaret Cameron said: “This is a significant event in the summer scene in Helensburgh and it is hoped that local people and visitors will come along to see the wealth of talent on display.
“Entrance is free in order to make the exhibition and sale available to everyone.”
The Mary Batchelor Award will be given to the best seascape painting in the show, and the event will be officially opened by BTO Solicitors partner Kirstine MacCrae.
Aside from their annual main show, Helensburgh Art Club also holds one say sales events in May and November.
The club hosts regular activities for members from October to March with lectures, demos and workshops held at Helensburgh Sailing Club.
Within the club are a variety of art groups such as a painting group on Wednesdays and a life-drawing group on Fridays held at the sailing club, as well as a portrait group hosted on Tuesdays in Helensburgh Tennis Club.
Helensburgh Art Club has the largest membership of any art group in the West of Scotland and currently has a waiting list for future members.
Helensburgh Art Club is sponsored by BTO Solicitors.
If you would like to be put on the waiting list or would like more info about the club, email secretary.helensburghartclub@gmail.com or visit www.helensburghartclub.co.uk.
