MORE behind-the-scenes details have emerged of the starring role played by an Arrochar pub in the latest series of an award-winning Netflix drama.
The Village Inn in Arrochar appears in the 'Loch Henry' episode in series six of Black Mirror, which was taken up by the streaming service after initially starting on Channel 4.
In the episode, which was released on Netflix on June 15, the converted 1872 church manse is seen, where a young couple travel to a secluded town to work on a nature documentary.
There they uncover "dark secrets", with the pub as a central hub in the episode.
The Village Inn's general manager, James Kelly, said it showed the importance of social spaces and how they are a place to meet in communities, as well as recognising their unique character and charm.
James said: "We are thrilled to have The Village Inn featured in Black Mirror as it really shows the importance of pubs in our communities.
"By appearing on one of the most popular shows at the moment, we hope to highlight the cultural significance of pubs and their ability to bring people together, both in reality and on-screen."
During filming, the pub was transformed and an extension was built with a fake wall to cover the reception area. It was covered with stuff animals and transported back to the 1980s. Must of the older-style bar furniture was used for the filming.
And actor John Hannah, who stars in the episode as Richard King, was seen stumbling down the pub stairs.
When not on the small screen, the pub has 14 rooms for guests, a large beer garden overlooking the loch, delicious food and drinks, and a welcome for any visitors - whether or not they're part of a film crew.
Describing the episode, a Netflix spokesperson said: "Ambitious young filmmakers, Davis and Pia, visit Davis’s idyllic home town near the fictional Loch Henry, to see Davis’s mother Janet and film a nature documentary about a local egg hoarder.
"But the couple stumbles upon a much juicier story when Pia learns more about the once tourist-friendly town, which was rocked by a series of eight murders 20 years earlier."
Black Mirror won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie three times in a row, for the episodes 'San Junipero', 'USS Callister' and 'Bandersnatch'.
The episode - and every other episode of Black Mirror - are available to Netflix subscribers now.
