A BUSY Saturday in Helensburgh didn't stop residents from giving something new a try with a try bowls day.
Helensburgh Bowling Club hosted the event in perfect weather and organisers hailed the event as a success.
The club's Marion Berry told the Advertiser: "We had a lot of interest shown in the club on the day and have attracted some new members from the event.
"Even the Advertiser's photographer was persuaded to try her hand at bowling.
"As well as trying the game visitors were shown around the clubhouse and were able to chat to members about the game, the club and membership while enjoying refreshments.
"Anyone who missed the try bowls event and would like to visit the club and try their hand at the sport can contact the club anytime by email at HelensburghBC@outlook.com.
"Our coaches and members look forward to welcoming new people to enjoy our facilities."
The club also has social events throughout the year, as well as their sporting activities.
There is a coffee morning on the last Friday of each month open to the whole community, not just members. Coffee and a scone is £3. The next coffee morning is on Friday, May 26 between 10am and 12pm.
