Young rugby players in Helensburgh recently hosted players from elsewhere in Argyll and Bute at the first Dalriada festival of 2023.
Helensburgh Rugby Club’s minis section welcomed teams from Oban Lorne, Campbeltown Kintyre, Mid Argyll, and Mull.
The festival saw P4-P7 teams get together for some friendly competition.
The P4/5 table was topped by Oban Lorne, who produced some strong displays to win all of their matches.
Helensburgh Comets, one of the home teams, also won all of their matches, finishing first in the P6/7 tournament.
Helensburgh’s P7 coach Mark Bone said: “A great day was had by all, and it was really good to see over 80 players taking to the field at Ardencaple.
“The cake stall and catering brought in a fantastic amount of donations from all present, such that the club is passing on a cheque to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation for £475.88 to be used in MND research.
“Local businesses gave fantastic support with produce for the players and to sell for the charity, including K Walker Butchers, Callaghan’s Butchers, Somerville Butchers, Nature’s Harvest, The Ginger Breadman, and the Co-op.”
