A CUPPA and a catch-up were the order of the day at Helensburgh Parish Church last weekend, as people turned out to support a coffee morning in aid of the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
Organised by Helensburgh Child Contact Centre, the event on Saturday, March 4, raised £1,000 for the cause, bringing in £700 on the day and £300 from an anonymous donor.
A spokesperson for Helensburgh Child Contact Centre told the Advertiser: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to support our coffee morning.
“The need for people in Ukraine is very urgent and we felt we had to do something to help those affected by this awful conflict.
“We all worked together as a team, with people all chipping in, so thanks to everyone for their help.”
Helensburgh Child Contact Centre is to provide a safe, neutral environment for children, their parents and other family members where they can maintain or re-establish contact following a family break-up.
Its co-ordinator is a professional social worker while the staff are trained volunteers.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal is helping to provide food, healthcare and emotional support to people in the war-torn country as the conflict with Russia continues.
