LUSS boxer Hannah Rankin is back in the ring later this week – and her bout will be screened live by the BBC.
The 32-year-old takes on American challenger Logan Holler at the Hangar Events Centre in Wolverhampton on Friday, March 10.
But those on Hannah’s home turf who are unable to make it to the fight in person will be able to enjoy all the action at home after event promoters Fightzone struck a deal with the BBC which will see not just the Rankin fight, but the whole of Friday night’s card, shown live on the corporation’s digital platforms.
Fans will be able to watch all the action on the BBC iPlayer and on the BBC Sport app and website as Rankin returns to action for the first time since the shock loss of her WBA and IBO world titles against England’s Terri Harper in Nottingham back in October.
And while the Rankin-Holler fight is the headline bout on Friday’s card, it’s not the only contest on the bill that’ll be of interest to followers of women’s boxing, with Wolverhampton’s Kirstie Bavington taking on Canadian Kandi Wyatt for the WBA Intercontinental Championship.
FightZone promoter Dennis Hobson said: “This is a huge partnership for women’s boxing in the UK and a landmark moment for the women’s sport.
“We are delighted to be helping to raise the profile of world-class British female athletes like Hannah Rankin and Kirstie Bavington through this live, international broadcast.”
