A CELEBRATION of reading and wellbeing is coming to Helensburgh next month.
Reading Minds, described as “a weekend of wellbeing through books”, will be hosted jointly by the Helensburgh Community Hub, Jean’s Bothy and Helensburgh and Lomond Carers.
Taking place on the weekend of March 17, 18 and 19, the line-up will include leading Scottish nature writer Jim Crumley, as well as other prize-winning authors – yet to be announced – and some of Helensburgh’s own home-grown writing talent.
Jim has more than 40 books to his name, the first of them published in 1988 – since when he has written about pretty much every aspect of the natural wonder of Scotland – and will be returning to the Helensburgh and Lomond area after an eagerly-awaited appearance at the Cove and Kilcreggan Book Festival in November.
The organisers are planning to run a free bus shuttle between event venues, with admission to each of the events on a donation-only basis.
Full details are expected to be unveiled later this month.
Gill Simpson, development manager at the Helensburgh Community Hub, said: “We are so excited about this.
“The idea for a wee book festival weekend grew out of some lovely conversations between book lovers from the Hub, Jean’s Bothy and Helensburgh and Lomond Carers.
“We will have more details about the programme in a couple of weeks when booking opens through Eventbrite. “Meantime, put the date in your diary and watch this space.”
