TWO members of Craighelen Lawn Tennis and Squash Club have been honoured for their distinguished service.
Club stalwart Tommy Watt was crowned West of Scotland Tennis’ volunteer of the year for 2022 for his impressive dedication.
The 81-year-old has been a member of the club since he was a teenager.
As an active member, he has long assisted in the maintenance of the club’s tennis courts.
While he had to give up playing two years ago, he continued as club groundsman, taking it upon himself to ensure the courts are brushed, sanded and swept before matches.
He also ensures they are free from weeds, puddles and surrounding overgrowth.
Meanwhile, fellow long-standing member Lesley McGowan picked up Craighelen’s Ian Drummond Salver for 2022 after six well-attended sessions.
The awards came as the club started the new year with a bright, sunny day for its first foot tournament, which was won by Jackie Morris and Kieran Martin.
