THE population of Luss was more than doubled at a stroke - if only for a day - as the village’s Highland Gathering made an eagerly-awaited return to the local events calendar on Saturday.
Heavy showers through the course of the day failed to put off the spectators or the competitors - even though the weather made for challenging running, cycling and throwing conditions - as one of the area’s most hotly anticipated events was held for the first time since 2019.
Dancers, pipers, cyclists, track and heavy athletes and more rubbed shoulders on the Games field during the fun-filled and family-friendly day out - which began with the traditional parade through Luss village, and which was also attended by representatives of numerous clan societies from Scotland and far beyond.
And despite the conditions, those who attended the Gathering were delighted to see it back, with one attendee commenting via the Gathering’s Facebook page: “Thank you to all who organised and participated at the Luss Games. It was a magnificent performance.”
