THE final touches are being added to preparations for the return of the Luss Highland Gathering next weekend.

After falling victim to Covid cancellations in both 2020 and 2021, the Gathering will return on Saturday, July 2 with all the traditional favourite attractions, including Highland dancing, heavy athletics, local and open piping contests, the tug-o-war and cycling and running races.

The first Luss Highland Gathering was held in 1875, and the event has been held annually since, except for a break during the two World Wars and in the last two years because of Covid.

It has also become the focus of the annual gathering of the Clan Colquhoun, bringing with it an influx of visitors from distant lands seeking their heritage.

The Gathering will be opened by its Chieftain, Patrick Colquhoun, at 11am, with the action expected to continue until around 5pm.
