IT was a shining example of national spirit when 4th Helensburgh Scout Group lit one of thousands of beacons across the UK to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The beacon, at Kidston Park, was one of 70 being lit by UK Scouts and more than 2,022 by groups and organisations across the country.
Speaking after the event, the 4th Helensburgh Scouts, said: "4th Helensburgh Scout Group were delighted to be part of the Queens Jubilee Beacon lighting ceremony.
"This definitely was a team effort with leaders supporting the four sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.
"We all felt it was very important for our young people to help celebrate the momentous occasion, be aware of the significance of it and we included a young person from each section in the Beacon lighting ceremony.
"The evening was a huge success, the good weather definitely helped and even the dreaded midge did not scare people away.
"We want to thank all families for supporting this event and to the many members of the public who joined us."
There were also events in Cove, Dumbarton Castle and beyond after the Queen lit her own display at Windsor Castle.
